'eight'. new beginnings...

Hello again! Thank you to everyone who was very patient and the many of you who have contacted me while my blog has been unavailable. I had a good deal of information and pictures to sort through, and that took rather a long time, while being fitted in around my non-internet life.

The ‘bad’ news first, and that is to say that my blog On Paper will not be continuing. I am sorry to see it go, and also I do regret that some of my long-time visitors will likewise be sad – reading over your comments while I was sorting out the blog, many of you have expressed how enjoyable you found my posts, which was very kind. The principal factor influencing my decision is my awareness that one or two individuals have been, perhaps inevitably, producing work that, in essence, recycles my own. Most of you know that I am always happy to answer technique-based questions, share creative ideas and know that people use these ideas to make projects for themselves or their friends. That’s lovely, and one of the reasons I began my blog, and why I teach. However, there is a difference between that, and a minority of others who choose to make a commercial enterprise based in whole or in part on the work of someone else. I know many people who work in creative industries have to deal with this perennial problem – the way I’ve chosen to deal with it is to cease my blog. I’m afraid I think it’s what I have to do. Thank you so much for understanding, and for having followed my ramblings and my artwork for the past twenty-one months.

Now the good news. I have a new website, which, although it will not be as frequently updated as the blog, will let me inform all those of you who have kindly shown interest in my published work, when and where to find new projects from me. I’ll update the site with news of my upcoming articles and classes. There is also a contact page, so you can ask me questions or just get in touch, just like you have been able to through On Paper. The site’s brand new at the moment, and it will develop over time.
